Immerse yourself in the wild beauty of Sardinia with this meticulously crafted journey. Your adventure will take you through the island's most pristine and captivating mountains.
The trek will take you from Santa Maria della Neve to Cuile Pranu 'e Girgini . This route allows you to delve into the uncontaminated charm of the island, crossing significant differences in altitude and culminating each day with an authentic experience of accommodation in the wild nature in a tent or in stone and wood shelters, where shepherds used to spend months and months.
The adventure intensifies when we climb towards Genna Duìo , reaching the summit of Gennargentu, the highest point in Sardinia. This stretch will be challenging but will reward your efforts with breathtaking views from Punta La Marmora at 1834 meters above sea level .
Subsequently, the trek starts again from Genna Duìo up to Arcu Correboi , a route of lesser difficulty.
In addition to the exciting physical journey, trekking integrates a cultural immersion in Sardinia's centuries-old lifestyle in the Barbagia region. Here you discover the delightful village of Aritzo , renowned for its warm hospitality and enduring traditions.
Staying in tents or affiliated facilities will depend on the weather conditions.
Itinerary
Welcome to Sardinia! Upon arrival you will find our staff to welcome you, depending on the time it will be possible to enjoy a visit to the city and then take care of your personal needs before traveling to your accommodation, a family-run hotel where you can savor the fabulous local dishes. Once arrived, an initial briefing will be held to summarize the week's program, deciding the destinations based on the weather conditions.
You will start the day early with breakfast at the hotel. You will prepare your backpacks and we will move by car to the starting point of the trek. The 11.5 km route begins in Santa Maria della Neve and ends in Cuile Pranu 'e Girgini. The excursion lasts approximately 5 hours and 15 minutes and is of "EE" difficulty. The route includes a difference in altitude of +860/-745 metres, starting from an altitude of 1010 meters and arriving at 1109 metres. You will spend the night in a tent or in a wooden shelter at the Onistri Bivacco. Be sure to bring a typical shepherd's meal with you for the day, as well as 3 liters of water.
After breakfast, the trek continues from Cuile Pranu 'and Girgini towards Genna Duìo, to reach the highest point of Gennargentu. This stage of the trek is approximately 18.5 km (or 17 km variant depending on weather conditions) and requires approximately 9 hours of walking. The trek offers a difference in altitude of +1153/-901 metres, starting from 1109 meters and reaching 1350 meters above sea level. The highlights of this part of the trip are the fascinating Punta La Marmora and the ruins of the historic refuge of La Marmora. The camp is planned at Cuile Sa Funtana Fritta, with the tent offering a welcoming shelter in the midst of nature.
Start your day with breakfast at the camp before leaving. The journey from Genna Duìo in Arcu Correboi covers a distance of 9.5 km and takes approximately 5 hours. The route is of "E" difficulty with a difference in altitude of +453/-557 metres, starting from 1350 meters and reaching 1246 meters above sea level. You will spend the night in a tent or in a rustic stone shelter.
You will discover the rich heritage of Sardinia during your cultural day in Barbagia, known for its traditional Sardinian lifestyle. Enjoy the warm hospitality of Aritzo, a picturesque village with centuries-old traditions.
Unfortunately, the hiking week has come to an end - you will check out of the accommodation before being taken back to the airport.
