Itinerary
Cagliari Airport – Welcome and Briefing
According to the arrival time, it may be possible to enjoy the city of Cagliari; otherwise, you will transfer to the accommodation in Aritzo. Aperitif and dinner.
Hiking to the river. Distance: 7Km, Time: 6 hours
The first excursion takes place in a river environment, through the woods of Barbagia between Seulo and Gadoni, with a view at Sa Stiddiosa waterfalls, a magical place where you can jump into the natural pools.
Hiking to the ice house. Distance: 13Km, Time: 8 hours
Five hundred years of history at least. The collection of snow for ice resale was the source of economics for this area of Barbagia. A state monopoly for the Spanish empire, a heritage ethno-anthropological for us today. An excursion on the Via delle Neviere following the paths of the shepherds with a lunch stop in the hut.
Sunset on the top of the Highest massif of Sardinia: Punta La Marmora. Distance: 15Km, Time: 8 hours
Gennargentu is the highest massif of Sardinia. It reaches its climax in the area of Perdas Crapias, with the summit marked on the map with the name of Punta La Marmora. Barren, vast, and full of charm, it gives the very idea of the mountain, with a view of 360° on the island. During the winter, it is often covered in snow and can be reached with snowshoes; during the summer, it is a place of refuge from the heat of the coasts. Our trek starts in the late afternoon with dinner at sunset at the top and return at night with headlamps.
Railroad and wine. Distance: 12Km, Time: 8 hours
Barbagia-Mandrolisai is a wonderful subregion of Sardinia, telling about the presence of an excellent red wine that comes from a mix of three grapes: the Mandrolisai wine is a forerunner for a territory to be experienced. This day we will walk along the old Railway, late 19th century, which Lawrence, an English traveller, told about his journey through the island.
Chestnut groves and Family Experience. Distance: 8Km, Time: 4 hours
The heart of Barbagia since 1300 was a land rich in raw materials and workforce. The Maritime Republic of Pisa understood this and decided to invest in it by planting and further grafting the Castanea Sativa. That is why this area today preserves numerous millennial chestnut groves. After the excursion, this day will be complete, at home with the family experience, to get to know and share our traditions and our style of life.
